'Great Gable seen from Innominate Tarn'

£220.00
sold out

Situated in the English Lake District, Great Gable is a prominent mountain that can be summited from many directions. It is seen here from the edge of Innominate Tarn - my wonderful view whilst running on my way to Haystacks, another great Lakeland mountain!

Handmade, kiln-formed glass ,in Lakeland’s muted colour palette of greens and greys, with some blues. Mounted in Lakeland slate.

The glass has my signature ‘stacked’ texture cast onto its front face and a bobbled texture to the back. Light bounces off the glass beautifully.

This unique piece of sculptural glass is designed to sit on a window sill or against a neutral coloured wall.

The overall dimensions are - 27.5cm wide x 10cm deep x 15cm high

The slate base dimensions are - 27.5cm wide x 10cm deep x 3cm high

This piece of artwork is part of a series of works taken from photographs while running in the Lakeland Fells. Although I love to swim in tarns, It was wintery and I felt too cold to take a dip on this day!

This glass varies from 7mm in thickness to 15mm. Due to this variation I have to fire the glass in the kiln for a long time to ensure it anneals properly. (The term annealing is a process that we put the glass through when cooling it in the kiln. This removes the materials internal stresses, making it stable once out of the kiln). Depending on the scale of the heavily textured pieces they can be in the kiln for a number of days.
